Number 4 Bus is Saved - Thanks to Local Residents and Campaigners

24 Nov 2022

Campaigners collected signatures on a petition door-to-door and online, contributing to thousands of objections to the plans.

Campaigner Terry Stacy says: “We heard from people across Islington how much they need the number 4 bus. It is one of the few east-west buses in Islington, the only bus serving Tufnell Park Road, and a vital link to local hospitals.”

Fellow campaigner Kate Pothalingam added, “It is no good the Labour council telling people to get out of their cars if at the same time the Labour Mayor is cutting our buses. Thank you to everyone who signed our petition and helped get this great result.”

Liberal Democrat Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon commented, “I welcome this u-turn in response to the strength of feeling from Londoners. We need to make bus travel easier for Londoners not drastically cut routes.”
